Headshot of Julia Sheehan, Product Analyst at Fire.

Meet Product Analyst, Julia Sheehan

Julia, one of our Product Analysts based in Dublin, shares what it’s like working at Fire and what led her to the payments industry.

Hello Julia! How long have you been with the company?

I joined in June 2024, so I’ve just marked my one-year anniversary!

Can you tell us about your role and what it involves?

I mainly work with our API product offering, so my role involves keeping track of customer feedback on the API, helping to onboard new customers with the API, and of course, making new features and updates live!

What part of your role as a Product Analyst do you find most rewarding?

Because Fire is a small company, it’s very rewarding to manage a piece of work you’ve conceptualised and see it through all the project stages to go live!

What has been the most exciting challenge you've worked on to date?

I recently refactored our API schema to make our OpenAPI file easier for users to download and use themselves! I had never used YAML before, so that was a big challenge for me.

What is your background, and what motivated you to join a company like Fire?

I studied Financial Maths in college, and after that, I went straight into a large consulting firm, working on a technology delivery project in financial services. From that experience, I realised I wanted more hands-on learning than a big company could offer and Fire seemed like a great place for that.

How would you summarise the culture in three words?

Supportive, welcoming and busy!

What do you enjoy most about working in the payments industry?

How relevant it is! Payments is at the forefront of nearly everything we do, especially in such a tech-first world, and it’s cool getting to attend industry groups and see firsthand how the industry is evolving.

And outside of work, what do you usually get up to in your free time?

I’ve really been enjoying Pilates classes recently! If I’m not doing that, I’m usually cooking with my roommate or reading a new book.

Are there any unique skills or unexpected fears you’d like to share?

I’m bilingual, as I’m half-italian!
